POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT -- PRINTMAKING

Position: Assistant Professor, 9 month , tenure track, beginning
August 14 , 1999

Qualifications:  MFA with emphasis in printmaking with extensive knowledge and skill in applying  contemporary and traditional printmaking technology required. Experience with non-toxic printmaking materials is desirable.   The successful candidate must have proven teaching abilities at the college level and must be able to demonstrate an engagement in creative research.  Record of exhibitions in the printmaking field is required and continued professional creative development is expected.

Responsibilities: To provide leadership and direction in the area of printmaking. Supervise and maintain the printmaking laboratory; actively participate in ongoing development of printmaking facilities and curriculum.   Teach lithography, etching, relief and screen printing from introductory through graduate level.   Teaching
assignment includes 18 contact hours per week.  Maintain relevant research/creative activity.  Provide service to the department, the university and the community.   Advise graduate and undergraduate students.

Department:  The art department is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) with a full-time faculty and professional staff of 14 and 4 part-time faculty who serve approximately 225 majors.   Curriculum offerings include: BA in Art, Art History, Interior Design, BFA Art Education, Studio (ceramics, graphic design/illustration, painting, printmaking and sculpture).  MA Art History, Art Education; MFA in Art (ceramics, painting, printmaking and sculpture).  Each area has at least one

Application Procedure: Candidates should submit a letter of application; current vitae; evidence of teaching effectiveness; official graduate transcripts;  three letters of reference; examples of creative and/or scholarly activities as appropriate to discipline; reprints of publications and a maximum of 20 labeled slides each of own work and students¹ work; and a statement of teaching philosophy.  Candidates selected for campus interviews will be asked to make a formal slide presentation.  Applicants should include a SASE for return of materials.   Send application materials to:
