EXHIBITION

The Print Center Annual Competition reflects the aims of the juror. This year, acting as both juror and curator, Peter von Ziegesar will attempt to provide an opportunity to consider in-depth the work of each artist chosen for the exhibition. This may necessitate showing a small body of work or a very large print or an installation.

Peter von Ziegesar is a writer and editor. His cover stories have appeared in Rizzoli's The Journal of Art and The New Art Examiner. Others include features or reviews in The New York Times Arts and Leisure, Art in America, High Performance, and Media Arts.

MEDIA

All forms of editioned and non-editioned prints, installation, artists' books and other three- dimensional work created in 1994-96.

Photographers note: The 72nd International Competition will return to photography. The benefits of membership and support of The Print Center continue every year. Please renew your membership today!

AWARDS, PRIZES, AND OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

One artist, chosen by the juror and the director of The Print Center, will be awarded a one-person exhibition to be scheduled at The Print Center separately from the competition exhibition.

EXHIBITION ANNOUNCEMENT, CATALOGUE, AND OTHER PUBLICITY

The Print Center will send 50 professional quality exhibition announcements and 5 catalogues to each artist in the exhibition. The exhibition catalogue will include a critical essay by Peter von Ziegesar, and a checklist, and will be sent to all entrants. The announcement, catalogue, and press release are widely distributed. The Print Center annual competitions are regularly reviewed. Press releases will be sent to the artists' regional media lists.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

The competition is open to all artists. The entry fee includes a one year artist membership in The Print Center ($30/year, $20 for registered students). Benefits include entry to the annual competi- tion, competition catalogue, other exhibition and sales opportunities, announcements, and 10% off on purchases in the Gallery Store and other special discounts.

Work submitted by dealers is subject to the same conditions as work provided directly by artists: a 40% commission to The Print Center on sales. It is the artists' responsibility to clear this with their dealers.

SLIDE AND FORM REQUIREMENTS

Slides of up to 4 original works must be submitted for preliminary jurying by 5P.M., September21, 1996. A stamped self-addressed envelope must be enclosed for return of slides. Each slide must be clearly (and securely) labelled with the artist's name, title, medium, image size (in inches, height before width), price, and an arrow to indicate top side of image (no glass mounts). Letter each slide AD to coincide with the listing order on the entry form. Send the completed entry form/slide list, membership fee, slides, and SASE for slide return to The Print Center, 1614 Latimer Street, Philadelphia, PA 19103-6398.

RETURN OF SLIDES

Slides of artists selected for the exhibition will be kept by The Print Center. Others will be returned by late Spring 1996, if accompanied by a SASE, or if hand delivered, may be picked up by appointment.

2ND ROUND REVIEW OF ORIGINAL WORK

After review of slides by the juror, some artists will be asked to send original work for further review. Artists whose work will be exhibited will be chosen from this group, and works to be displayed will be selected from the portfolio submitted by each of the chosen artists. Work not included in the exhibition will be held until the close of the exhibition for return with exhibited work unless specifically requested for early return.

2nd Round Requirements:

1. Work requested should comprise a portfolio of approximately 10 works, or 2-4 oversized (over 40x40") works.

2. Works submitted for 2nd Round must not have been exhibited previously within 50 miles of Philadelphia.

3. Works must be shipped to The Print Center in a sturdy, reusable container.

4. Each work must be labelled on the back upper left corner with artist's name, title, medium, date, image size, and price.

5. A list containing the same information requested in #4 above must be included in the package.

6. Payment for return shipping must be enclosed. Portfolios not prepaid will be returned COD via UPS.

7. Works chosen for exhibition must be matted by the artist, if mats are required. If desired, matting may be arranged by The Print Center and paid for by the artist.

8. The Print Center will provide glass or plexiglas 1 1x14, 16x20, 20x24, 24x28, 30x36 inches. Presenting materials in other sizes than these must be provided or paid for by the artist.

9. No framed works will be accepted.

10. All entries must be delivered to The Print Center.
